Day by Day Breakdown on Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek Itinerary

Now, let’s go deeper into the Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek Itinerary. One should not forget that the luxury trek follows the similar itinerary of the Everest Base Camp Trek. The trail and landscape remain the same but services and amenities differ.

Flight to Lukla for Everest Trek

The most common way to reach the trailhead of the Everest Base Camp Trek is by taking the flight either from Kathmandu or from Manthali Airport Ramechhap. During the peak season, flights take off from Ramechhap Airport instead of Kathmandu. It is to utilize the short flying window. Lukla flights are always unpredictable. Small change in the weather conditions can cancel the flight. However, the visibility requirement for helicopter is very low. Trekkers of luxury trek package fly to Lukla by helicopter instead of airplane. Except in very adverse weather conditions, helicopter flight to Lukla has less chance of flight cancellation.

How long is the first day of trekking in Everest?

Upon landing in the Lukla airport, trekkers take a brief stop before starting the trek. The first day’s trek in the Everest Base Camp journey is a warm up walking to Phakding only. Total trek distance between Lukla and Phakding is about 8 kilometers. You will have to walk for about 2 to 3 hours to reach Phakding from Lukla. It is also the day that you obtain Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Entry permit.

Trek to Namche Bazaar

The second day of the Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek Itinerary is one of the longest trekking days in this trip. You will enter the Sagarmatha National Park officially. After walking for about 2 hours from Phakding, trekkers reach Monjo where they enter the national park. The major highlights of this day are the crossing of the suspension bridges and the first sighting of Mt. Everest. You have to cross more than 5 suspension bridges on this day and the last one is the most iconic one. The Hillary Twin Bridge over the Imja River located at the foothill the Namche Bazaar is totally surreal. The trail starts to become uphill from after crossing the bridge. In a clear weather day, trekkers can get the first view of Mt. Everest while ascending the trail just before reaching Namche Bazaar.

Acclimatization Hiking Around Khumjung and Everest View Hotel

On the 3rd day of the Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek, trekkers embark on the scenic hiking around Khumjung Everest. This day is very special as we get to see dozens of mountains including Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse. These two are the world’s top 10 mountains. Acclimatization is essential for safe and successful trekking especially in the high – altitude places. The concept of acclimatization is to reach the high – altitude places and return back to low – altitude places for overnight sleep. This is the best way to quickly adapt in the new altitudes. Trekkers trek to the Everest View Hotel (3880 m). The hotel is the world’s highest situated luxury hotel. The panorama of mountains seen from the balcony of the hotel is truly blissful. You can get mesmerizing scenery of mountains like Tabuche, Lhotse, Nuptse, Everest, Amadablam, Thamserku, Kwangde, etc.

Trekkers on the luxury trip package explore the Khumjung Village as well. They visit the Khumjung Monastery where they can physically see the scalp of mythical Yeti. It is one of the rarest opportunities which the luxury trekkers get in their sumptuous pursuit to reach the Everest Base Camp. After hiking around Khumjung, trekkers return back to Namche Bazaar. Exploring Namche Bazaar is in itself a rare opportunity. It is the major town and heart of Khumbu.

Luxury Lodge in Tengboche or Debuche

4th day of trekking is through the sacred monastery of Sherpa people – Tengboche Monastery. There are no luxury lodges in Tengboche but the scenery of mountains, Pangboche Valley, Lower Dudhkoshi Valley, and Amadablam Mountain looks spectacular from this hill top. The monastery is centuries old and host the famous Mani Rimdu festival of Sherpa people. However, there are few luxury lodges in Debuche but the view is limited! It takes about 30 to 45 minutes to reach Debuche from Tengboche.

Dingboche Village for acclimatization in Everest Trekking Route

Reach the last densely populated village on the Everest Base Camp Trek route on 5th day of the trek. Trekking trail traverses through Pangboche (Village on the crossroad between trail to Everest Base Camp and trail to Amadablam Base Camp). Tree lines start to disappear and trekkers start to feel the change in the vegetation as well as landscape.

Dingboche Village (4400 m) is always bustling and buzzing with trekkers, guides, and porters. This is also the famous village where trekkers spend at least two nights be it on the peak climbing journey or trekking trip. Please note that the Dingboche Village is also the base village to start the challenging Everest Three High Passes Trek. High Passes Trekkers trek to Lobuche via Kongma La Pass (5535 m) from the village. The second acclimatization to prepare body well for the places beyond 4000 m is done on the 6th day of the trek.

Hike to the top of the Nagarshan Hill (5100 m) and return back to Dingboche for proper acclimatization rotation activity. Trekkers get to interact with the locals and trekking crew members while exploring the Dingboche Village as well. Finally, trekkers start to feel that Everest is nearby!

Trekking to Lobuche

The Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek Itinerary reaches to the penultimate day. The trail today is rugged and full of rocky boulders. In the first phase before Thukla, trekkers trek on the open grassy meadows overlooking lofty mountains on either side. The trail changes after crossing the Thukla Pass Memorials. Relish a tranquil and serene Himalayan environment in Lobuche. Time seems to have stopped in this village. The location of the village seems to be in an enclosed and natural protection as it is surrounded by hills and glacier. The overall trekking experiences start to overwhelm trekkers as it is the 7th day on this legendary trekking trail.

Reach Everest Base Camp on 8th day of trek

Finally, the wait is over and you will reach the Everest Base Camp via Gorakshep on the 8th day of the trek. The trail between Lobuche and Everest Base Camp including Gorakshep is rugged and through glacier - moraines. Lots of rocky boulders make it difficult for trekkers to smoothly navigate. It takes about 2.5 hours to 3 hours to reach Gorakshep from Lobuche.

How long does it take to reach Everest Base Camp from Gorakshep?

It takes about 2 to 3 hours to reach Everest Base Camp from Gorakshep. Please note that you don’t see Mt. Everest from the Everest Base Camp. The sight of Mt. Everest is best seen from the ridge line few meters before Everest Base Camp. Once you reach the base camp, collect as many memories as possible. If the timing of the trek is in the climbing season, then an entire base camp looks like a nomadic village with full of colorful tents.

Sunrise from Kalapathar

The last push in this adventurous journey of the Everest Base Camp Trek is the Kalapathar Hike. The hike starts early in the morning before dawn on the 9th day of Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek. This is the biggest factor that you should book the Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek. The helicopter ride is beyond imagination. By the time you arrive in Kathmandu, you will be recalling the amazing things that you have done in the past week.
